Michigan Chronicle Honors SEEL CEO With a 2012 Men of Excellence Award
The Michigan Chronicle recently honored Mr. Louis E. James, president & CEO of SEEL (Solutions for Energy Efficient Logistics) as a 2012 Man of Excellence. Nominated for this distinction by Michigan Chronicle readers for his success as a businessman, community activist, philanthropist and entrepreneur, James received the award at an exclusive reception held at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel in downtown Detroit.
The Michigan Chronicle Men of Excellence Award is bestowed upon African American men who inspire others through their vision and leadership, exceptional achievements, and participation in community service.
“The Michigan Chronicle celebrates men like Louis James for his contributions to the region, the community and the business world,” said Hiram E. Jackson, publisher of the newspaper. “Our goal is to shine a bright spotlight on these individuals so that others can be inspired by their example.”
In addition to heading SEEL and owning several other companies that service both the automotive and energy industries, James is a community and civic servant. He was recently appointed as Chairman of the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority. He also lends his experience and expertise as an active member of the Coleman A. Young Foundation, where he serves as a Board Trustee. And, he is the vice president of the Wayne County Sheriff Youth & Senior Education Fund, a civilian non-profit board of CEOs and community leaders that raises funds for crime prevention initiatives and services.
James is involved in many organizations, including: The National Association of Business Suppliers (NABS), the Minority Economic Resource Corporation (MERC), the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), the Detroit Area Council of Boy Scouts of America, the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council (MMSDC) and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), to name a few.
